  • •Lead Embedded, one of Production Engineering’s two teams, weighted toward senior technical talent.
  • •Direct engagement selection and operating model as the team is still forming, defining what great looks like and how impact is measured.
  • •Create an environment for experienced engineers to do their best work through direction-setting, psychological safety, and direct coaching.
  • •Partner across org boundaries to influence technical decisions while delivering reliability outcomes.
  • •Turn lessons from engagements into reusable engineering practices, patterns, and capabilities that scale across Canva.

Key Requirements

  • •Led highly experienced software engineers and technical leads through complex or ambiguous work, including coaching in high-autonomy environments.
  • •Built earned authority by gaining trust quickly, especially where influence mattered more than reporting lines.
  • •Led cross-org delivery of significant technical initiatives end-to-end, from understanding the problem through delivering measurable outcomes.
  • •Strong CS fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, and data structures.
  • •Deep systems knowledge and reliability engineering experience across large-scale, high-criticality production environments, with working familiarity in Go, Python, Java, or C++ and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
