Job Summary

Electrical Overhead Lines Engineer to work within AECOM’s Transmission & Distribution team on major OHL design projects up to 400 kV. You’ll lead technical design tasks (PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, sag-tension calculations), support feasibility studies, ensure safety/environment/quality standards, and deliver engineering deliverables for National Grid-style projects in a hybrid-working environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Design activities related to overhead lines including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, loading trees, design criteria, sag-tension calculations, damper system recommendations, and conductor/insulator selection.
•Support feasibility studies and conductor thermal ratings; identify technically preferred solutions to present to clients.
•Ensure projects meet safety, health, environmental, sustainability, and quality standards.
•Adhere to AECOM and client design management processes.
•Contribute to engineering deliverables such as complex designs, reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages.

Key Requirements

•A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline (electrical/power engineering).
•Experience in electrical design projects for transmission system operators (e.g., National Grid, SSE, SPT) aligned with operator standards.
•Project experience in overhead line engineering up to 400 kV.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
