Job Summary

Lead civil and geotechnical engineering for mine waste projects, including tailings and waste rock containment and heap leach facilities. Drive geotechnical field investigations, lab testing, and data interpretation; scope and review complex analyses such as stability, seepage, thermal modeling, deposition modeling, and runout assessments. Manage projects against approved scopes, deliver reports on time and within budget, and support client relationships, proposals, and junior engineer work.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead civil design of mine waste containment and heap leach facilities, including layout, site selection, geotechnical/hydrologic analyses, and construction design drawings/specifications.
•Manage and execute mine waste geotechnical engineering projects, including field investigations, laboratory testing, data interpretation, and geotechnical analysis.
•Scope, direct, and review complex geotechnical analyses (e.g., stability, seepage, thermal modeling, deposition modeling, runout analyses).
•Independently manage projects to deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget, subject to senior review and oversight.
•Support client relationships and business development, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and manage junior engineers.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering (or closely related).
•7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
•Engineer license required.
•Demonstrated experience with tailings management and heap leach facility design in the mining industry, including commonly used software packages.
•Strong soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering knowledge, with client liaison and business development skills.
