Job Summary

Develop and deliver grid connection services projects supporting electrical design through power system studies for UK and Ireland utility-scale renewable projects. Conduct detailed grid code compliance and power system studies using PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/E, and perform due diligence such as grid prospecting, connection optioneering, risk assessment, and capacity/constraints evaluation. Collaborate on interdisciplinary reviews, quality checks, technical specifications, and bids while liaising with OEMs and clients to drive technical outcomes.

•Undertake detailed power system and grid code compliance studies using tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/E.
•Conduct grid connection due diligence including grid prospecting, connection optioneering, risk assessment, and capacity/constraints assessment.
•Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts; support quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings.
•Prepare technical specification sections, provide input to engineering budgets/schedules, and liaise with OEMs and clients for technical outcomes; support bids/proposals.

Key Requirements

•Proven professional experience working for an engineering design consultancy, OEM, or utility network planning and connections role.
•Strong understanding of transmission and distribution planning and customer connection processes for regulated and industrial networks.
•Working knowledge of UK technical requirements (UK Grid Code, G99, G5/5, P28) and guidance for connecting new generators and loads (Ireland Grid Code knowledge beneficial).
•Proficiency with PSCAD, PowerFactory, and python scripting; prior PSSE and ETAP experience desirable.
•Demonstrated understanding of control and protection principles for high-voltage substation equipment, transmission lines, generators, transformers, and reactive equipment, plus exceptional written and oral communication.
