Key Responsibilities

  • •Own operational tax as Monzo’s subject matter expert and advise the business to meet obligations as the company grows.
  • •Lead compliance and controls for operational tax processes across jurisdictions, including building new processes and controls as products and markets evolve.
  • •Partner with Product and local market teams from the outset to embed tax into product design, build reporting and controls, and pressure-test edge cases.
  • •Stay ahead of UK and EU tax law, regulations, and case law, translating changes into clear actions and supporting readiness for new requirements.
  • •Work cross-functionally with Product, Financial Crime, Engineering, Legal, EU Next Markets, and Finance from an operational tax perspective.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualified accountant and/or qualified tax advisor, or qualified by significant experience.
  • •Significant in-house experience working in Operational Tax.
  • •Comfortable working relatively autonomously.
  • •Hands-on, energetic approach to tackling whatever needs doing to make things happen.
  • •Strong eye for detail and ability to work methodically through operational tax processes.
