Job Summary

Serve as a Safety in Design/CDM consultant within multidisciplinary project teams, helping clients meet legal duties under CDM 2015 and supporting Principal Designer responsibilities under the Building Safety Act 2022. Review and challenge design-stage risk information, develop hazard-mitigation strategies, compile compliance reports and registers, and advise stakeholders on safety goals across complex infrastructure, transportation, utilities, engineering, and related design-led environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Review and challenge design-stage risk management information for compliance.
•Work with designers to develop hazard-mitigation strategies and safety-in-design approaches.
•Gather required information to inform risk profiles and compliance plans (e.g., PCI/HSF/BSA).
•Advise clients and stakeholders on their legal responsibilities under CDM and apply CDM principles to complex project scenarios.
•Compile compliance reports, registers and documentation aligned to CDM and BSA requirements, and deliver project deliverables within commercial proposals.

Key Requirements

•Proven track record as a Safety in Design or CDM professional with hands-on design experience and strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and experience of BSA 2022.
•Commitment to improving health and safety performance and compliance across construction projects.
•Experience in transportation, utilities, engineering, operations, risk management, or related disciplines with understanding of design process and risk profiles.
•A degree (or equivalent) in safety, engineering, construction, transportation, or a related field, or equivalent technical qualification (BTEC, HNC/HND) supported by practical experience.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional and client meetings, with continued professional development supported by NEBOSH Construction and membership of APS, IIRSM and/or IOSH (ideally).
