Job Summary

Support transportation planning projects in the Washington, DC office during Fall 2026, assisting planners and project managers with studies, data analysis, and public engagement. Help create maps, visualizations, and technical documentation for transit, multimodal corridors, transit-oriented development, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and Complete Streets initiatives. Contribute to technical memoranda, presentations, and project reporting under general supervision while completing assigned training.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist with collecting and compiling observational, spatial, operations, and environmental data from multiple matrices for projects, research, field work, and surveys.
•Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, infographics, and 3D illustrations to support interpretation and presentation.
•Support technical staff and project managers with analyzing and interpreting facts and data from field and site investigations and help inform action plans.
•Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, and GPS data to determine exact project area locations and assess site impacts and sensitivities.
•Assist with preparing general and specific/master plans, zoning codes, permitting policies, and technical reports, memoranda, and presentations under general supervision.

Key Requirements

•Actively enrolled in an accredited Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or related undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of January 2027 or later.
•Must be 18 or older.
•Demonstrated interest in transportation/urban/environmental planning and desire to advance skills through WSP’s work.
•Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
•Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
