Job Summary

Partner with product, engineering, and research teams as their day-to-day legal advisor—supporting new features, model launches, and creative tools from concept to ship. Tackle generative AI and synthetic media issues including right of publicity, IP/copyright, content moderation, and provenance/disclosure. Own key consumer legal surfaces (Terms, privacy, disclosures/consents, app store compliance), advise marketing claims, and build lightweight launch processes while triaging company-wide legal needs.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as embedded counsel for product and engineering, reviewing features, flows, and launches at shipping speed.
•Advise on generative AI and synthetic media legal issues: right of publicity, IP/copyright, content moderation, and provenance/disclosure.
•Own consumer-facing legal surfaces including Terms of Service, privacy policy, in-product disclosures/consents, and app store compliance.
•Counsel marketing and growth teams on claims, endorsements, and promotions.
•Build lightweight legal processes (e.g., launch reviews and escalation paths) and triage incoming legal matters with relevant stakeholders, including outside counsel as needed.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 190,000 - 280,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years of legal experience with substantial product counsel work at a consumer technology company (in-house or firm plus in-house).
•J.D. and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar, with the ability to practice in-house in New York.
•Fluency in consumer software legal matters including privacy (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA), IP, UGC/content, and consumer protection.
•Practical, business-first judgment with clear, concise answers and workable next steps.
•Comfort operating as the only lawyer in the room while stretching into new, complex problems.
