Job Summary

Own operational leadership for securities services, focusing on clearing and settlements and end-to-end support for securities lending within a time-critical environment. Lead client service and problem resolution, manage operational risk identification and escalation, and ensure compliance with internal controls, audit readiness, and Group policies. Drive process improvements, automation, contingency planning, and MI reporting, while coaching and developing teams to meet customer SLAs and productivity/quality targets.

Key Responsibilities

•Proactively identify, resolve, and escalate problem situations to improve quality and prevent recurrence while maintaining effective client and business relationships.
•Manage operational risk through identification, assessment, mitigation, controls, loss identification, and reporting aligned to HSBC operational risk management standards.
•Lead operations continuity and contingency planning, including operational risk assessments, cross-training strategy, and capacity/leave management to stabilise service delivery.
•Re-engineer and improve settlement and administration processes to minimise manual work and increase automation, streamlining operations and efficiency.
•Set, track, and deliver productivity and quality targets, produce MI within timescales, and develop teams through training, performance management, and knowledge retention.

Key Requirements

•A post-graduate diploma or degree in any discipline.
•At least 7 years’ experience in the securities industry, including 5 years at a management/supervisory level, focused on back-office and middle-office support.
•Wide experience in global securities settlements and back-office operations, including exposure to securities lending, custody/clearing, broking, settlements, cash management, funding and FX transactions, or asset management/fund services.
•Proven experience in a management position with exposure to appraisals, counselling, team building, and staff development.
•Strong understanding of securities lending and the collateralised financing lifecycle, with experience in operational risk management, 1LoD controls, or markets trade support/control roles.
