Job Summary

Own and evolve ByteDance’s global traffic and proxy services outside China, translating forwarding requirements into deployable proxy architectures. Design and maintain flexible proxy deployments, build observability pipelines for traffic logs and metrics, and handle online incidents as the first point of contact. Rapidly prototype traffic solutions for efficient time-to-value, and document reusable configurations to accelerate future delivery and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, configure, and maintain flexible proxy service deployments for evolving forwarding patterns, routing rules, protocol handling, and access control requirements.
•Partner with business stakeholders to translate traffic forwarding requirements into practical, deployable proxy service solutions using cloud products and in-house platforms.
•Rapidly prototype and iterate traffic solutions to validate approaches and improve deployment efficiency and time-to-value.
•Build and maintain observability pipelines for log collection, metrics aggregation, and usage analysis to provide actionable insights into traffic behavior.
•Triage online incidents and business inquiries related to traffic services, coordinate resolution, and communicate status clearly; document reusable configurations.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related major.
•Strong understanding of OSI Layer 4–7 protocols including TCP/UDP, HTTP/1.1 & HTTP/2, TLS, DNS, and WebSocket.
•Solid knowledge of forward and reverse proxy mechanisms with hands-on experience using Nginx, Envoy, HAProxy, or equivalents.
•Strong troubleshooting skills across network and application stacks, including DNS resolution, load balancing, TLS handshake, and application-layer failures.
•Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders, enabling cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration.
