Key Responsibilities

  • •Set the Group-wide QAC strategy and roadmap aligned to HSBC priorities.
  • •Build and govern a prioritised use-case portfolio with explicit stage-gates and stop decisions.
  • •Oversee progression from PoC to pilot and production across sandbox, connected, and on-prem environments.
  • •Define technical and architectural direction for quantum, quantum-inspired, and hybrid approaches, including reusable standards and patterns.
  • •Manage the global QAC team and partnerships with vendors, academia, and cloud providers, shaping commercial arrangements and integration support models.

Key Requirements

  • •Research excellence in quantum or quantum-inspired algorithms, applied to optimisation, machine learning, and financial services use cases.
  • •Proven experience with advanced/accelerated compute approaches, including HPC, GPUs, and hybrid architectures.
  • •Ability to deliver applied R&D from experimentation into controlled deployment with measurable commercial benefit or risk reduction.
  • •Experience operating in regulated environments with disciplined governance, oversight, and delivery risk control.
  • •Strong ability to embed security, data, model risk, and third-party risk considerations from inception through production-ready delivery.
