Key Responsibilities

  • •Collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles. (ICN, 2002).
  • •In conjunction with, but not limited to, the Manager / Charge Nurse / CRN, identifies own professional learning needs and develops a learning plan as required.
  • •Participates in self and peer evaluation including reflective practice.
  • •Initiates or participates in clinical research that contributes to continual improvement in standards of care.
  • •Develops and maintains own Professional Portfolio
  • •Obtains accredited and non-accredited Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Units in compliance with DOH requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor Degree in Nursing OR
  • •Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or USA with minimum two (2) years course duration AND
  • •Successful completion of the National exam: USA: NCLEX - RN Canada: Licensing Exam
  • •Minimum two (2) years clinical experience
