Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive impact across multiple teams or a significant product area independently, planning and executing parallel workstreams while holding teams accountable.
  • •Develop the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the area, anticipating user needs and technical challenges and connecting delivery to Stripe’s mission.
  • •Coach and develop senior engineering talent and emerging leaders through feedback, stretch opportunities, and growth investments.
  • •Align cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams to resolve ambiguity and ensure shared priorities.
  • •Instill operational excellence and ownership, proactively identify systemic issues, and recruit to hire and scale diverse, high-performing teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with 10+ years of software development experience.
  • •4+ years of engineering management experience as an autonomous EM, delivering consistently without close direction.
  • •Experience leading high-complexity engineering teams executing in parallel on multiple difficult, high-impact workstreams.
  • •Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, communicating clear direction others follow.
  • •Technical depth to guide architecture decisions and raise standards for product quality and engineering craft, including recruiting experience developing senior talent.
