Job Summary

Own Canva’s portable mobile libraries that underpin how the product runs across iOS, Android, and web. Build production-grade foundational libraries in system languages (Rust and C/C++) with a focus on native-feeling interfaces, safety models, and ergonomics for engineers consuming them. Partner with a technical leadership group of Staff engineers, drive hands-on execution, and communicate clearly through docs that others act on.

•Define and build portable libraries that run across iOS, Android, and web, including interface, safety model, and ergonomics.
•Work in system languages (Rust and C/C++) to deliver fast, safe, reliable production-grade libraries across devices.
•Collaborate with other Staff engineers to shape the technical direction of the Mobile Platform and portable libraries work.
•Lead with code in hands-on implementation rather than an architecture function.
•Communicate across the stack by writing design docs and ensuring libraries are understandable to engineers consuming them (including those who don’t write Rust).

•Strong cross-platform fluency, including ABI boundaries, memory safety across language barriers, and foreign function interface ergonomics.
•Able to write clear design docs and communicate technical decisions so frontend and mobile engineers can use the libraries effectively.
