Job Summary

Lead power systems engineering for Critical National Infrastructure clients in the UK and Ireland, supporting network planning and engineering teams. Deliver network modelling and design, load flow, thermal/voltage and fault-level analysis, and G99-compliant HV/EHV connection offerings. Configure Active Network Management schemes, perform curtailment analysis, and design protection and 132kV substation solutions. Use tools like DigSILENT PowerFactory and automation/AI approaches to streamline analysis and forecasting for DNOs, TSOs, and generation assets.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform network modelling and design and support analysis using DigSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA, DINIS, PSS-SINCAL, and related applications.
•Conduct load flow, thermal, voltage, and fault level analysis for major connections and network planning use cases.
•Prepare and approve G99-compliant offer letters and schemes on behalf of power DNOs/TSOs for EHV/HV major connections.
•Design and configure Active Network Management schemes on platforms such as SGS and ZIV, including curtailment analysis.
•Act as a trusted advisor to client network planning and engineering divisions and deliver protection design and 132kV substation design.

Key Requirements

•Masters degree ideally (preferably PhD) in Power Systems engineering, or a relevant bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience.
•Experience performing load flow, thermal/voltage constraint, and fault level analysis for DNO/TSO, and large-scale generation and power infrastructure projects.
•Specialised experience in UK/Ireland power distribution or transmission networks, or comparable overseas networks, at 132kV and above.
•Proven experience with power systems modelling tools such as DigSILENT PowerFactory, PSS-E, PSS-SINCAL, and IPSA, plus protection design toolsets.
•Working knowledge of building automation/AI solutions for power network systems using tools such as Python or DigSilent Programming Language.
