Job Summary

Lead and shape the Service Operations Department across one or more CarMax locations as part of a structured Operations Manager in Training program. Partner with Sales, Business Office, and Purchasing to deliver an exceptional customer and associate experience while driving operational excellence. You’ll oversee key performance metrics, production capacity, quality, cycle time, and cost controls, maintain P&L accountability, support continuous improvement, and manage Environmental, Health and Safety responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

•Serve as a Senior Manager on the store leadership team, providing strategic leadership across Service Operations (reconditioning, cosmetic, production, and automotive service).
•Directly and indirectly lead multiple managers and a frontline workforce, with responsibility for staffing, performance management, associate development, and succession planning.
•Own operational execution by overseeing key performance metrics, production capacity, quality, cycle time, and cost controls using data and trend analysis.
•Maintain financial accountability including P&L ownership, expense management, labor optimization, and productivity targets aligned to business plans.
•Champion process improvement initiatives and manage the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for the department and/or location.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 105,600 - 184,900 annually

Key Requirements

•Ability to interpret and maintain accurate data records.
•Completion of CarMax-provided training in Inventory, Cosmetic, and Production processes.
•Proven ability to lead leaders and manage complex operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
•3+ years of management experience (retail management preferred).
•Ability to work indoor/outdoor environments with a flexible rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and 12-hour shifts (occasional travel for meetings/training).
