Key Responsibilities

  • •Set and own the engineering quality bar across system design, code review, testing, observability, documentation, and technical decision-making.
  • •Provide hands-on technical leadership: stay active in the codebase, review critical PRs/designs, prototype high-risk components, debug production, and make architecture tradeoffs.
  • •Own technical architecture and strategy across card issuing, wallets, ledger, money movement, onchain settlement, and integrations.
  • •Drive reliability and scalability by establishing SLOs, improving incident response, planning for capacity growth, and designing resilient systems with graceful degradation, idempotency, and replay.
  • •Build security, compliance, and correctness into the platform by partnering with Risk, Compliance, and Security to meet requirements such as PCI and SOC 2.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years building production software, including 4+ years leading engineers (Head of Engineering/Director/Senior EM preferred).
  • •Hands-on experience with meaningful production code written or reviewed within the last year.
  • •Deep experience with distributed backend systems at scale, including data modeling, consistency, idempotency, queues, and event-driven design.
  • •A track record of raising engineering quality and measurable improvements in reliability, velocity, or quality.
