Key Responsibilities

  • •Maintain and improve WDL workflows on AWS Batch and AWS HealthOmics, and own how new Nextflow workflows run on shared tooling and infrastructure.
  • •Own the team’s AWS infrastructure managed as code in Terraform, improving reliability, reproducibility, and observability.
  • •Build testing, monitoring, and alerting to surface failures before scientists notice issues.
  • •Develop internal tooling to reduce manual work and support triage of production issues, including making new capabilities easier to test and document.
  • •Collaborate with science leads and data scientists to move new methods into production pipelines and provide first-line review for changes and handoff readiness.

Key Requirements

  • •4+ years of software or pipeline engineering experience, preferably in life sciences, sequencing, or production-adjacent environments.
  • •Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a system operating in production.
  • •Strong Python fundamentals with testing and debugging practice.
  • •Experience with workflow systems such as WDL, Nextflow, Snakemake, CWL, or similar.
  • •Real cloud experience, ideally AWS, including managing infrastructure as code (Terraform is used).
