Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and implement department policies and practices aligned to the school’s vision and high standards of teaching and learning.
  • •Establish, monitor, and evaluate short-, medium-, and long-term departmental development plans using relevant school data.
  • •Ensure schemes of work are developed, reviewed, and evaluated for all year groups and courses, including appropriate provision for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.
  • •Evaluate and improve the quality of departmental teaching and learning, setting staff expectations for achievement and teaching quality and behaviour.
  • •Contribute to the school’s CAS programme and after-school booster/revision sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses, including efficient deployment of staff/resources and control of departmental Resource and CapEx budgets.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
  • •Minimum 6-year teaching experience.
  • •Experience of the UK curriculum.
  • •Secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum.
  • •Demonstrate leadership skills and experience raising standards and plugging learning gaps.
