Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead product design efforts through all phases from concept through commercialization, including concepting improvements in functionality, durability, comfort, organization, and mission effectiveness.
  • •Translate end-user insights, mission requirements, and product strategy into load carriage and equipment solutions.
  • •Develop 2D concepts, technical drawings, patterns, prototypes, and product specifications; create complete design packages (patterns, BOMs, sew samples, material specs, and technical documentation) for development and costing.
  • •Conduct competitive evaluations, market research, and benchmarking to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation; engage directly with end users to understand operational needs and field challenges.
  • •Collaborate with Design Engineers, Product Managers, and product development teams; coordinate material sourcing, testing, and evaluation of fabrics, trims, hardware, and construction techniques.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Soft Goods Design, or related field (or equivalent soft goods design experience).
  • •More than 5 years designing and developing commercialized soft goods, backpacks, load carriage systems, tactical equipment, outdoor gear, or related products.
  • •Strong understanding of the full product design and development process from concept through production.
  • •Experience creating patterns and production-ready design documentation, including BOMs, technical packages, and material specifications.
  • •Hands-on experience building and evaluating sewn and cut-and-sew prototypes.
