Job Summary

Drive merchant acceptance and in-market growth for a new mobile payment solution across Southern and Eastern Africa. Own merchant servicing and acquiring strategy for key markets, develop profitable merchant relationships, and lead partnerships with Large Payment Facilitators, acquirers, fintechs, and marquee merchants. Execute Nano Merchant Acceptance initiatives over a 3-year horizon, translate acceptance/interchange strategies into action plans, and support regional teams with sales and enablement, including quarterly business reviews.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and execute merchant acceptance, merchant relations, and partner strategy to increase Visa MSV, market share, and data processing revenues.
•Partner with regional leadership to execute Nano Merchant Acceptance Strategy over a 3-year horizon.
•Drive acceptance of Visa payment solutions across Southern and Eastern Africa, focusing on key business segments and marquee merchants.
•Secure and close strategic deals and negotiate large partnerships with clients and/or partners, including fintechs, to transform the payments landscape.
•Support go-to-market deployment of a new mobile-based technology solution and translate acceptance and interchange strategies into objectives and action plans.
•Conduct quarterly business reviews with key fintechs and merchants to ensure Visa relationship adds value.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 8+ years with an advanced degree, or 3+ years with a PhD).
•Minimum 10 years of success in progressive leadership roles in the payments industry.
•Local market and regulatory knowledge with functional experience in acceptance, merchant acquiring, and interchange management; consulting and financial transaction processing knowledge.
•Established B2B business sales track record with strong networks at decision-making levels and experience supporting highly complex clients in a matrixed environment.
•Working knowledge of payments network and processing services and mobile technology; plus Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
