Job Summary

Ensure safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery, propulsion systems, and dredging equipment onboard a self-propelled cutter suction dredger. Lead and supervise engine department personnel, plan preventive/corrective maintenance under the Planned Maintenance System, and maintain technical records and statutory documentation. Drive compliance with international maritime regulations and the company’s safety and technical management systems while responding to emergencies, minimizing downtime, and supporting dredging production targets.

Key Responsibilities

•Take overall charge of the engine department and ensure continuous safe operation of all machinery and equipment.
•Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, hydraulic systems, and associated machinery.
•Ensure optimum performance and availability of cutter drive systems, dredge pumps, spud systems, winches, and other dredging machinery.
•Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance per the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), including dry-docking and machinery overhauls coordination with shore teams and contractors.
•Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMO, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code, and company technical and safety management systems while conducting risk assessments, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.

Key Requirements

•Hold a Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer.
•Have basic and advanced STCW training certificates.
•Possess a medical fitness certificate as per ILO/MLC requirements.
•Bring 5–10 years rank experience onboard a dredger.
•Demonstrate capability to lead the engine department and ensure compliance with international maritime regulations and company technical and safety management systems.
