Key Responsibilities

  • •Monitor health, performance, and availability of production, QA, and development databases on AWS and respond to alerts with root-cause investigation.
  • •Execute scheduled and ad hoc maintenance (e.g., reorganization, index rebuilding, statistics gathering, defragmentation) and administer databases on Linux EC2/AWS RDS.
  • •Implement backup, recovery, and business continuity activities, including validating backups, performing restores, and supporting disaster recovery testing and failover.
  • •Identify and address performance bottlenecks by analyzing slow queries and wait events, tuning queries and indexes, and supporting performance optimization.
  • •Write automation scripts and support development operations by creating/using SQL and PL/SQL/PG/SQL scripts, stored procedures, migrations, and environment refreshes.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering (or related) and 4 years of hands-on database administration experience (or equivalent alternative combination).
  • •Primary expertise in PostgreSQL on Linux/AWS RDS, MySQL on Linux/AWS RDS, or Oracle 19c on Linux, with multi-platform experience a plus.
  • •Solid knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and practical experience writing SQL and operational scripting.
  • •Working knowledge of database performance diagnostics (e.g., EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE, query plan and wait event analysis, index tuning).
  • •Cloud database administrative experience in AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, or Google Cloud (GCP) and understanding of database security fundamentals (RBAC, auditing).
