Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical support for communicable diseases through primary health care to ensure efficient, effective programme delivery.
  • •Develop and implement action plans for interventions in high-risk groups and environments, and recommend measures for special attention.
  • •Research, compile, and evaluate outbreak-related data to identify disease sources and recommend appropriate response and preventative measures; prepare reports.
  • •Develop improvements to communicable disease information systems and support monitoring progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through integration with national health information systems.
  • •Serve as a technical resource and deliver community outreach, liaising with national counterparts and partners (including UN and bilateral) to harmonize policies and strategies and resolve issues.

Key Requirements

  • •Master’s degree in medicine or public health.
  • •At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in communicable diseases, focusing on tuberculosis (including drug-resistant TB), HIV, STI, and viral hepatitis surveillance, prevention, and care.
  • •Experience working at the country and/or regional level providing technical advice and services to national counterparts and partners.
  • •Experience preparing proposals for Global Fund grants and their implementation, monitoring and evaluation in developing countries (desirable).
  • •Expert knowledge of the country’s communicable disease situation, ability to apply WHO policies/guidelines, and excellent drafting and communication skills.
