Job Summary

Join WSP’s Bridges team in Basingstoke as a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer. You’ll lead bridge design, including strengthening and repair, inspections, and assessments, while providing civil and structural engineering support to other teams. The role includes producing scheme designs and drawings, reports, and health & safety risk assessments, as well as checking drawings and supervising CAD technicians. Client-focused communication and mentoring of junior staff are key.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver bridge design and related engineering work.
•Perform bridge strengthening and repair, inspections, and assessments.
•Provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams.
•Prepare documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, and scheme designs/drawings for feasibility studies.
•Check drawings and supervise CAD technicians; help mentor and support more-junior team members.

Key Requirements

•Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer status is anticipated.
•Practical experience in bridge design, strengthening, or bridge assessment.
•Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and/or Network Rail Standards.
•Understanding of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design.
•Experience using grillage/space frame/finite element analysis tools such as LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM.
