Key Responsibilities

  • •Patrol and monitor an assigned segment of interstate roadway for stranded motorists, roadway deficiencies, and potential lane-blocking obstructions.
  • •Detect traffic incidents and disruptions and help minimize incident duration using quick clearance techniques.
  • •Clear debris/obstructions and establish temporary traffic control for emergency responders, including reversible roadway and gate support where applicable.
  • •Perform pre- and post-trip checks, schedule/shuttle vehicles for maintenance, and maintain routine cleaning and restock consumables.
  • •Provide motorist assistance (including fuel/battery boost and minor first aid when needed) while adhering to policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma (or GED/equivalent) or 1 year of relevant work experience in lieu of education.
  • •Must be at least 18 years old and able to drive an AECOM-provided vehicle for patrolling and monitoring an assigned roadway segment.
  • •Pass state and federal criminal history/security background checks, including Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based CHRC.
  • •Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record in the last 3 years, and maintain satisfactory record through monthly MVR monitoring.
  • •Pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in mandatory random drug screening.
