Job Summary

Design and execute experiments to develop and scale novel biomaterials used in medical devices, while ensuring product quality and compliance with GMP and ISO standards. Perform polymer synthesis and analytical/biochemical characterization, translating findings into scalable, market-ready solutions with cross-functional project teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Generate and process Device Master Record documentation (process routers, drawings, preventative maintenance) and prepare technical sections for product or regulatory submissions.
•Design and execute experiments, analyze results, and stay current on emerging biomaterial research trends.
•Develop and fabricate novel biomedical materials and processes from lab-scale through manufacturing scale-up, including transition into manufacturing environments.
•Plan and implement DOEs, risk management documentation, testing methods, and Test Method Validation (TMV), and maintain design control systems compliant with medical device regulations.
•Perform analytical, mechanical, and biochemical assay testing and polymer characterization while maintaining a laboratory notebook and associated documents.

Key Requirements

•Ph.D., Master's, or Bachelor's degree in polymer science and engineering or a relevant field.
•Skilled in polymer physical and chemical processing (polymer synthesis, melt processing, solution processing, foaming, machining, sterilization).
•Experience using analytical techniques such as DSC, TGA, TMA, Rheology, FTIR, GPC, and HPLC, plus mechanical testing (tensile, flexural, torque, torsion).
•Knowledge of Engineering & Quality tools including Statistics, Six Sigma, DFM, and DOE.
•Computer literacy with tools such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Pro/E (or similar CAD).
