Job Summary

Lead field operations for Protection and Control (P&C) testing and commissioning across high-voltage utility substations and bulk power systems. Coordinate with engineers and subcontractors, mentor technicians, manage site logistics, maintain accurate data reporting, and serve as the senior field liaison for technical concerns.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead field operations for complex construction, environmental, and infrastructure projects, providing technical guidance and oversight of day-to-day site activities.
•Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations.
•Conduct hands-on protective relay testing and independently execute and validate advanced protection and control testing sequences aligned to plans, standards, and client specifications.
•Follow safety protocols, participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard assessments, and lead implementation of site-specific health and safety and quality control procedures.
•Lead field crews by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, mentoring technicians, coordinating site logistics, and acting as a primary field liaison for clients, contractors, vendors, and project leadership.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum 11 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium/high-voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
•Expertise with transmission, generation, or distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families) and protective schemes.
•Advanced protective relay testing skills, including calibration using Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit testing, and upload of settings to microprocessor relays.
•Knowledge of electrical field testing standards and procedures (e.g., NETA, IEEE, NFPA) and ability to prepare field logs, sketches, and digital reports.
