Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage a team of editors and reporters covering the federal government’s legislative, executive, and judicial branches, plus political campaigns.
  • •Set editorial content direction for CQ products, including CQ Magazine, newsletters, and the CQ website.
  • •Set planning and content for Roll Call, including the print edition, Roll Call website, and newsletters.
  • •Coordinate with managing editors across editorial operations and production to support content needs for CQ and Roll Call platforms.
  • •Provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports and staff writers; write and perform second edits as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Submit four published writing samples demonstrating reporting and writing ability.
  • •10+ years of daily journalism experience, preferably covering federal policy and political stories, with increasing responsibility and 3+ years in management roles.
  • •Experience working in a newsroom in an editor role.
  • •Knowledge of CQ and RollCall systems and processes.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
