Job Summary

Provide DFM guidance for high-volume thermoplastic injection molding components and work with R&D and Manufacturing to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions. Represent HP with external tooling and molding suppliers worldwide to develop injection mold tooling/processes, metrology strategies, and quality control plans. Own mold capacity planning, evaluate part failures with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and develop quality control plans from prototype through high-volume production.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide DFM guidance and technical solutions for mechanical/thermal plastic molded components, electronics enclosures, and production tooling.
•Participate on cross-functional project teams to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for products of varying complexity.
•Develop and implement mold capacity planning using forecasts, cycle times, and yields.
•Evaluate injection molded part failures and issues with cross-functional teams; work with suppliers to determine root cause and implement robust solutions.
•Develop quality control plans with suppliers for reliability and quality from prototype through high volume HP specifications.

Key Requirements

•Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field (or commensurate work experience).
•Typically 5+ years of work experience, preferably in injection molding or a related field.
•Injection molding equipment and processing knowledge, including understanding of thermoplastic and thermoset materials.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with suppliers and internal partners.
•3D modeling skills (PTC Creo preferred).
