Job Summary

Join the Performance & Prediction Group to perform aerodynamic design and analysis for centrifugal compressors used in refrigeration products. You’ll develop and apply advanced analytical tools, use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) alongside laboratory testing, and analyze data to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and sound levels. Collaborate with internal and external customers, support DFMEA development, and build/advance grid generation and CFD pre- and post-processing tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform centrifugal compressor aerodynamic design and analysis for refrigeration products.
•Apply analytical/design tools to develop new or improved compressors and aerodynamic flow path components considering manufacturing processes.
•Create test plans, specify and review instrumentation, and compare experimental test data with predictive design tool outcomes.
•Modify models and processes based on new learnings to close the design loop and continue improving performance.
•Develop and enhance grid generation processes and CFD pre- and post-processing tools to support integration into the centrifugal compressor design system.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related engineering discipline with 5 years’ engineering experience, or an MS degree in a related field.
•Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and CFD, with knowledge of refrigeration cycles and experience with two-phase/phase change modeling preferred.
•Programming background with working knowledge of AutoCAD or Pro-E; preferred experience with meanline, inviscid, and optimization design tools.
•Basic proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; preferred programming capability in Python or C++.
•Some CFD experience and proficiency with ANSYS CFX or Cadence FineTurbo, including automating CFD via coded macros; grid generation and working knowledge of ANSYS Workbench or Cadence Fidelity preferred.
