Key Responsibilities

•Develop and execute internal communication strategies for local workforce, supporting workforce initiatives, safety, operational changes, benefits, and updates.
•Partner with HR and labor relations to ensure communications align with collective bargaining agreements and reinforce labor-management relationships.
•Draft talking points, FAQs, and leader-facing materials for leadership meetings, town halls, shift meetings, and employee forums.
•Lead external public relations for media, community groups, and public stakeholders, including press releases, public statements, presentations, and digital content.
•Lead community outreach and government/stakeholder engagement, track communication effectiveness, and improve workforce engagement and community trust.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Human Resources, Public Affairs, or a related field.
•5–8 years of experience in communications, public relations, or community relations, preferably in aluminum, metals, mining, energy, or heavy manufacturing.
•Experience in a unionized or labor-intensive environment with sensitivity to labor relations dynamics.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, translating complex operational or technical topics into clear language.
•Ability to engage confidently with media, community stakeholders, and government representatives, with familiarity with safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations.
