Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as the highest-level technical authority on energetic safety.
  • •Establish enterprise technical strategy, governance, and standards across all business units and programs.
  • •Provide technical oversight for energetic materials lifecycle operations and the design, expansion, modernization, and commissioning of facilities supporting energetic manufacturing and operations.
  • •Lead or oversee explosive safety and process safety assessments (PHA, PHR, ESSP, hazard classification, Quantity-Distance analyses) and define explosive operating limits and facility requirements.
  • •Lead investigations of energetic incidents/near misses and ensure corrective and preventive actions, while partnering across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities Engineering, EHS, Strategic Real Estate, and Lethality.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Safety Engineering, Explosives Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • •Minimum of 20 years of experience involving energetic materials, rocket propulsion, missile systems, explosive manufacturing, or defense production operations.
  • •Recognized enterprise-level industry expert in energetic safety with proven technical leadership across complex aerospace or defense programs.
  • •Extensive experience with solid rocket motors, composite and double-base propellants, energetic material manufacturing, missile production/AUR integration, and explosive safety analysis and risk management.
  • •Expert knowledge of DoD 4145.26, DDESB requirements, OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119), Department of Transportation hazardous materials regulations, and other applicable regulations; including strong communication and influence skills.
  • •Active or obtainable DoD Secret Clearance.
