Job Summary

Senior technical authority accountable for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software in Davies’ UK&I technology estate. Provides hands-on leadership across cloud-native architectures and Agile delivery, mentoring engineers, promoting best practices, and driving continuous improvement. Leads complex technical problems, collaborates with Architects and cross-functional teams, and shapes engineering standards within a Microsoft-centric stack including .NET, C#, React/TypeScript, Azure, Terraform, and SQL Server.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and development of high-quality, cloud-native applications aligned to strategic technologies. Write clean, maintainable, secure code following SOLID principles, design patterns, and OWASP guidelines. Develop microservices, containerised applications, and event-driven components. Implement automated testing approaches including TDD, integration testing, and CI/CD pipeline automation. Support SRE practices such as observability, resilience engineering, and performance tuning.
•Act as a technical role model for the engineering organisation, promoting autonomy, self-management, and maturity within squads. Coach and mentor developers at all levels, providing guidance on technical design, coding practices, and problem-solving. Contribute to engineering frameworks, patterns, and internal best-practice standards. Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability development.
•Be “parachuted in” to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues during critical times. Provide expert solutions to high-impact problems across the technology estate. Work with Architects to design and evolve shared frameworks, libraries, and platform components.
•Work closely with Architects, Product Owners, Platform Engineers, and QA teams to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business goals. Liaise with 3rd-party software partners throughout design, build, support, and maintenance cycles. Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive continuous improvement. Promote user-centered design with UX/UI colleagues for high-quality experiences.
•Explore new technologies and approaches; propose innovations that improve developer experience and platform quality. Champion engineering excellence and continuous learning across teams. Strengthen shared engineering foundations such as standards, pipelines, templates, and automation.

Key Requirements

•8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
•Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (or Python).
•Modern front-end experience with React, Angular, or Vue.
•Advanced experience with Azure (or AWS/GCP equivalents).
•Strong expertise in microservices, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design.
