Job Summary

Ensure a robust AML/CFT and sanctions compliance framework for Bitpanda’s activities in Germany. Act as the key senior AML specialist, support the AMLO/Geldwäschebeauftragter with regulatory reporting and regulator/auditor interactions, maintain compliance with German and EU requirements, design and test second-level AML controls, oversee PEP and high-risk customer reviews, and drive automation through audit-ready documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

•Support the AMLO/Geldwäschebeauftragter by managing regulatory reporting, correspondence, and interactions with BaFin, FIU, and auditors.
•Maintain regulatory alignment with German GwG, BaFin guidance, FIU expectations, MiCAR, MiFID, EU Transfer of Funds Regulation, and sanctions.
•Design, execute, and test second-level AML controls, tracking and remediating audit or internal findings.
•Manage high-risk compliance including PEPs, high-risk customer reviews, Source of Funds/Wealth assessments, transaction monitoring, sanctions escalations, and onboarding decisions.
•Support internal/external audits with robust documentation trails and collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate workflows and data-led processes.

Key Requirements

•3–6 years of hands-on AML/CFT experience in financial services, fintech, payments, or crypto (ideally deputy MLRO or senior analyst).
•Solid working knowledge of German GwG, BaFin expectations, FIU reporting, MiCAR, MiFID, and the EU Transfer of Funds Regulation/Travel Rule.
•Experience with sanctions compliance and understanding crypto-native financial crime risks (e.g., self-hosted wallets, blockchain analytics, mixers, bridges).
•Ability to translate regulations into scalable, automated processes and confidently work with senior management, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
•Fluency in both English and German.
