Job Summary

Perform plumbing trade work installing, maintaining, and repairing domestic and industrial plumbing systems and fixtures in accordance with specifications and plumbing code. Read building plans and working drawings, lay out and cut openings, assemble and join pipes and valves, and test systems for leaks. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, and more, while maintaining safe, cost-effective work and accurate work order documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Assemble, install, and repair valves, pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, steam, chilled water, hot water, sewage, gas, air, and drainage systems per specifications and plumbing codes.
•Study building plans and working drawings, inspect structures for obstructions, and determine work sequence and required installation aids.
•Locate and mark pipe positions and passage holes, cut openings in walls and floors, and use appropriate tools to support installation.
•Cut and thread pipe, bend tubing to required angles, and assemble/install valves, fittings, and pipes made from metals and non-metals using hand and power tools.
•Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints; fill systems with water or air, read pressure gauges for leaks, and complete daily work order logs.

Key Requirements

•Have a minimum of 5 years journeyman-level Plumber/Pipefitter experience or successfully completed a DOL-certified apprentice program.
•Hold a Journeyman State of Alabama Plumbing and Gas Fitter License and maintain it.
•Read and interpret blueprints and drawings; be capable of reading and writing.
•Maintain a valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record and be able to obtain/maintain necessary licenses, IDs, and certifications.
•Obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a Tier 1 Investigation; pass required background checks/drug testing and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
