Job Summary

Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the Global Trade Services (GTS) business in the UAE and across MENAT for Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) customers. Act as the accountable lawyer for material legal issues, draft/review/negotiates trade and structured trade transaction documentation, advise on non-standard risks, and evaluate legal/regulatory changes to identify and mitigate legal and reputational exposure.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide expert legal advice, guidance, and support to the GTS business in UAE and across MENAT to identify, report, and mitigate legal and reputational risk.
•Act as accountable lawyer (or support the accountable lawyer) for material legal issues facing the GTS business in MENAT.
•Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documentation for core trade and structured trade transactions, including CIB/GTS documentation across onboarding, lending, trade, and digital product development.
•Advise GTS management on non-standard legal and reputational risks and communicate legal implications and risks of initiatives to the business.
•Evaluate and respond to legal and regulatory requirements as they arise and maintain legal risk management aligned with group policy, collaborating with regional/global legal teams.

Key Requirements

•Qualified lawyer with 2-5 years PQE and experience in lending (bilateral and syndicated), trade, and receivables finance.
•Experience with structured trade transactions (e.g., commodity finance, borrowing base facilities, asset finance).
•Knowledge of banking law concepts including lending, UAE corporate structures, and security/trade finance concepts, with working knowledge of MENAT jurisdictions.
•Familiarity with industry-standard documentation (including LMA documentation) and transaction execution (collateral, legal opinions, managing counsel).
•Knowledge of Islamic finance and Arabic language skills is an advantage, and a Bachelor’s degree is required to obtain a UAE work permit.
