Key Responsibilities

  • •Spray paints vehicles and defense-related equipment using enamel, lacquer, and vinyl materials, including specialty coatings for protection and appearance.
  • •Mix, thin, and adjust paints and coating agents (including dryers/flattening agents) to achieve proper finish, thickness, and blending requirements.
  • •Read and interpret technical manuals/work requirements to determine correct paint types, colors, and markings; apply stencils/silk screens/decals for cosmetic accuracy and legibility.
  • •Operate, clean, and maintain spray equipment (including nozzles/restrictors) and ensure proper air pressure during operations.
  • •Perform surface preparation, visually inspect surfaces for readiness, follow safety requirements, and provide guidance to lower-grade employees as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •3-5 years of experience in vehicle painting.
  • •High school Diploma/GED (Normal Apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience).
  • •Ability to read and interpret Technical Manuals (TMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Technical Bulletins (TBs), and prints to determine paint types, colors, and markings.
  • •Knowledge of pre-coating materials, pot life, shelf life, and proper application methods.
  • •Follow all safety requirements in accordance with regulations and manufacturer instructions.
