Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead supplier industrialization for welded assemblies and structural components, including manufacturing planning, tooling readiness, process validation, capacity planning, qualification, and production ramp-up.
  • •Assess supplier capabilities through capability assessments, manufacturing readiness reviews, process audits, capacity analyses, and onsite technical evaluations.
  • •Serve as the primary technical interface between suppliers and internal Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program teams.
  • •Resolve technical issues across welding and forming (e.g., weld defects, distortion, springback, heat-affected zones, dimensional nonconformances) using structured root-cause and corrective-action methods.
  • •Coordinate First Article Inspection (AS9102) activities and support resolution of FAI discrepancies and manufacturing nonconformances, including recovery efforts and corrective actions.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar).
  • •7+ years’ experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, welding engineering, supplier quality engineering, or related roles in aerospace/defense or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • •Demonstrated ability developing suppliers and resolving complex manufacturing, quality, capacity, or delivery issues.
  • •Strong knowledge of welding processes (e.g., GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, resistance, laser, or electron-beam) and experience evaluating welding procedures, welder qualifications, and weld inspection methods.
  • •Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including GD&T, weld symbols, and bills of material) and experience with structured root-cause/corrective-action methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why).
