Job Summary

Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based maternity and newborn care across antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods. Monitor labor progress (including CTG), assist with deliveries and obstetric procedures per scope of practice, and deliver immediate post-delivery care for mother and newborn. Coordinate and assess patient care plans with an interprofessional team, document findings, and support breastfeeding and mother-baby friendly practices, while escalating appropriately in emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide safe, compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods in line with scope of practice, competencies, and clinical privileging.
•Monitor labour progress, perform CTG monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate findings, and escalate to the obstetrician when needed.
•Provide care for mother and newborn during spontaneous vaginal, instrumental vaginal, and caesarean deliveries, including assisting procedures such as AROM and sterile vaginal examinations.
•Perform immediate post-delivery care, including mother assessments (e.g., fundal massage, placental examination, blood loss assessment) and newborn care (e.g., cord blood gases, newborn identification, vital sign monitoring).
•Coordinate patient care, assess and implement medical plans, document vital signs and abnormalities, and support breastfeeding and skin-to-skin bonding.

Key Requirements

•Hold an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse with qualifications and experience required by the relevant regulatory health authority.
•Manage your own professional re-licensure.
•Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
•Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
•Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
