Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide timely legal advice to internal clients across business operations, and draft, review, and negotiate routine contracts within delegated authority.
  • •Own the end-to-end contract review workflow, including intake, tracking, and advising on renewals, expirations, and termination timing; manage external counsel as needed.
  • •Design and execute the brand protection program, including monitoring, takedowns, customs seizures, investigations support, and trademark/design portfolio enforcement.
  • •Own ethics and hotline programs, advise on compliance initiatives, and manage regional privacy and data protection programs; maintain and report on legal risks and disputes.
  • •Supervise and develop junior legal staff and interns, set team objectives across Japan and Korea, and deputize for the Sr. Director, Legal when required.

Key Requirements

  • •Law degree required and admission to the bar of any jurisdiction (or a US law school law degree is a plus).
  • •8+ years of legal experience in-house or at a law firm, with experience in retail, consumer, or service industries a plus.
  • •At least 2 years supervising or developing junior staff, or clear readiness to do so.
  • •Strong command of Japanese law, particularly company law, commercial and consumer law, data privacy, and intellectual property.
  • •Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English; Korean is a plus.
