Key Responsibilities

•Conduct condition assessments on existing mechanical installations of STS cranes, Automated Stacking Cranes and other port equipment, translating findings into maintenance strategies, life-extension estimates and renewal plans per installation group.
•Validate lubrication specifications and intervals; analyze wear patterns and use insights to feed preventive maintenance planning.
•Create scope of works, technical specifications and design criteria for mechanical works, renovations, life-extension and new installations, based on OEM documentation and applicable standards (FEM, EN, ISO).
•Validate offers, studies and execution dossiers from contractors and suppliers; review drawings, bills of materials and perform checks on strength, stability, fatigue, load combinations, wheel-rail contact and crane structures.
•Supervise inspections, FAT/SAT procedures, commissioning and in-service handover of mechanical installations; ensure complete as-built documentation and close non-conformities.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience with heavy lifting or port equipment on the shop floor; experience with STS cranes or Automated Stacking Cranes is a strong plus.
•Deep knowledge of mechanical crane systems, steel structures, drives, hoisting and trolley mechanisms, wheel-and-rail systems, lubrication, wear analysis, and critical components from major crane suppliers.
•Knowledge of relevant standards and directives, including FEM, EN 13001, CE marking and the machinery directive; ability to read and interpret technical drawings, 2D/3D models, BOMs and technical dossiers.
•Experience with supplier qualification, FAT/SAT procedures, commissioning, non-conformity follow-up and CMMS/EAM platforms within project or maintenance environments.
•Analytical, meticulous, independent, flexible, proactive and safety-conscious; strong communication with stakeholders in Dutch and English; proficient with Office and technical reporting tools.
