Job Summary

Perform DOT inspections and preventative maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks in a mobile/field environment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues; use test instruments, road tests, and diagnostic techniques to identify malfunctions. Manage parts inventory and operate a company service truck, complete DOT and repair documentation, and communicate with customers and internal support while complying with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
•Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using test instruments (e.g., handheld computers and pressure gauges), and road test vehicles to verify repairs.
•Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on a company-issued service truck, and perform safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
•Document work on Repair Orders and upload photos using a company-issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application; complete DOT paperwork and comply with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination such as further education/certification, or 5 years’ related experience).
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform the role.
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
•Be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical (per DOT/FMCSA regulations).
•Hold a current and valid DOT medical card (or be able to obtain a DOT physical if the card has 4 months or less), and have a valid state driver’s license; candidates must be 21+.
