Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop, continually improve, and document improvements to manufacturing automation systems.
  • •Develop specifications for new automation hardware and software, and evaluate/install/qualify new automation systems.
  • •Define qualification plans and lead CMS projects for new automation processes in the factory.
  • •Identify improvement priorities, assess solution options, recommend best solutions, and implement solutions.
  • •Lead complex projects/technical teams cross-functionally and provide mentorship, training, and communication with internal and supplier stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus 2 years as First Solar Data Scientist III, or 9 years engineering experience in a technical setting.
  • •MS in a technical discipline plus 2 years as First Solar Data Scientist III, or 7 years engineering experience in a technical setting.
  • •PhD in a technical discipline plus 2 years as First Solar Data Scientist III, or 5 years’ experience in a technical setting.
  • •Demonstrated project management/leadership of large complex projects and technical leadership across functions and factories.
  • •Programming experience with Python and machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) and experience developing and deploying ML solutions.
