Job Summary

Serve as a subject matter expert for Partial Oxidation units within the Global Process Engineering group at the La Porte Syngas/MeOH plant. Partner with operations and cross-functional teams to remove process constraints, troubleshoot complex operating issues, and improve performance while ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, reliable operations. Lead front-end loading and execution of long-term capital/expense projects, and provide technical support across turnarounds and unit changes while mentoring less experienced engineers.

•Collaborate with operations to identify and remove constraints to maximize on-stream time and profitability while ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, reliable operations.
•Analyze complex operating issues and provide recommendations to improve performance.
•Support gap closure and continuous improvement through technical expertise, engineering calculations, and justification for capital and expense projects.
•Lead capital, expense, and special project scope development, execution, and support.
•Provide technical expertise during troubleshooting, turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, catalyst changes, and other non-routine unit activities, while mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers.

Key Requirements

•B.S. or higher degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
•10+ years of manufacturing experience with background in partial oxidation and syngas-methanol production.
•Strong mastery of unit processes and unit operations principles (e.g., mass/energy balances, thermodynamics, heat/mass transfer, distillation).
•Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
•Strong process troubleshooting skills and knowledge of tools/resources to support technical activities.
