Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop additive metal capability by building Astranis’s Laser Bed Powder Fusion process from the ground up.
  • •Develop and own engineered thermoplastic 3D printing processes for PEEK, ULTEM, and similar materials.
  • •Collaborate with design engineering on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM), including design reviews and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • •Create standard operating procedures, process monitoring capability, inspection criteria, and qualification tests/coupons to minimize yield loss.
  • •Troubleshoot non-conformances on the factory floor, drive corrective actions, and support R&D/production machining, fixturing, and supplier/contract manufacturer process qualification.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, physics, or an equivalent technical degree.
  • •2+ years of direct professional experience in additive manufacturing, specifically metal (Laser Bed Powder Fusion).
  • •Experience with explosive/combustible powder storage and handling best practices.
  • •Familiarity with additive software such as nTop, 3DXpert, Materialise Magics, Netfabb, Ansys Additive, or Altair Inspire Print 3D (or equivalents).
  • •1+ years of CNC machining experience, including complex machining centers (5-axis mills), plus 3D CAD experience (Solidworks, Siemens NX, or similar).
