Job Summary

Develop, scale, and transfer thin-film solar module manufacturing processes, including vacuum deposition, wet coatings, laser processing, lamination, and electrical testing. Qualify and sustain new process equipment in a 24x7 manufacturing environment, troubleshoot to improve safety, throughput, yield, and performance, and drive continuous improvements using Six Sigma, DMAIC/8D, DOE, and SPC. Analyze and visualize process/equipment data using SQL, Python, JMP, and Power BI while collaborating cross-functionally and supporting operational teams through mentoring and technical training.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, improve, and document robust solar module manufacturing processes and scale-up/transfer new and emerging processes.
•Qualify and sustain process equipment in a 24x7 manufacturing environment and serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned process/equipment sets.
•Participate in troubleshooting to improve safety, throughput, yield, and performance benchmarks.
•Design and execute process experiments; analyze and present results.
•Work with equipment OEMs to evaluate, install, and qualify tools; develop control plans/work instructions and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Travel: Medium travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 80,700 - 115,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in an engineering or similar technical discipline, plus relevant technical experience; alternatives include prior First Solar Development Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer experience.
•Prior experience in semiconductor or PV R&D/manufacturing setting, including thin-film deposition (e.g., PVD/magnetron sputtering, CVD, evaporation), thermal processing, wet coatings, automation (robots/AGV), laser processing, or process/device integration.
•Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and process issues in a lab or manufacturing environment.
•Demonstrated ability to execute experiments and use structured problem-solving and statistical methods (e.g., DMAIC/8D, DOE, SPC) to implement continuous improvements.
•Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional global teams.
