Job Summary

The Underwriting Portfolio Analyst supports the Mid-Market Portfolio Steering team in Property & Casualty by analyzing, producing, and presenting data-driven insights to steer portfolio performance. Works with underwriting, pricing, data, claims and actuarial teams to develop data sets, tooling and methods that inform decisions and improve profitability.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze and interpret data to understand portfolio performance against corporate plan objectives and generate insights for underwriting teams.
•Produce and present steering insights regularly to inform stakeholders on trends affecting the portfolio.
•Provide data production and reporting, and develop tools to assess month-on-month results efficiently.
•Collaborate with data teams to create datasets for new analyses, tooling and products, liaising with underwriting regions and account teams to identify data needs.
•Support the pricing team by shaping and embedding pricing methodologies into the portfolio rhythm and developing trading tactics using price as a lever.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 38,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Experience in a Commercial Lines P&C underwriting environment with strong financial awareness.
•Understanding of P&C insurance data and metrics and how these flow to results and performance monitoring.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to establish credible relationships with stakeholders.
•Knowledge or understanding of SAS, SQL or equivalent programming languages (preferable but not essential).
•Excellent Excel skills or a strong desire to upskill in this area.
