Job Summary

Own and optimize the Effect SDK that powers TikTok’s camera and creation experiences. You’ll diagnose and fix frame drops, jank, thermal throttling, and power issues by profiling the camera→effect→render→encode pipeline across CPU, GPU, memory, and threading. Partner with rendering and on-device algorithm teams to evolve the SDK’s business architecture for iOS and Android, while localizing production bugs and improving performance across mobile devices.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive end-to-end experience optimization of the effect pipeline during shooting, diagnosing and resolving frame drops, jank, thermal throttling, and power consumption issues.
•Profile the camera→effect→render→encode pipeline to identify bottlenecks across CPU, GPU, memory, and thread scheduling and deliver measurable improvements.
•Collaborate with the rendering engine team and on-device algorithm team to leverage low-level capabilities and co-optimize model integration and execution.
•Build and evolve the business architecture of the Effect SDK (Native, cross-platform for iOS & Android), turning product requirements into maintainable modules.
•Localize and fix production-reported technical problems and bugs with a strong ownership mindset.

Key Requirements

•B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science with 4+ years of relevant experience.
•Proficient in C/C++.
•Strong interest in performance on mobile devices, with a mindset of digging into profilers.
•Familiar with iOS and/or Android development and experience with video and image processing on mobile phones.
•Experience in performance profiling and optimization, including frame rate stability, memory, thermal, or battery consumption, is preferred.
