Job Summary

Senior Ecologist to lead ecological projects across the UK & Ireland, support bids and tender processes, plan and manage fieldwork, deliver high-quality ecological consultancy, mentor team members, and collaborate with landscape, GIS, engineering and sustainability disciplines within AECOM’s hybrid-working Nature team.

Location: Cambridge, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Dublin, Cork

Job Function: Solutions Engineering & Sales Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Help prepare high-quality and commercially astute bids and tenders for ecological services, especially in energy, transport and water sectors.
•Plan, schedule and manage all phases of ecological project work with appropriate resources, budgets and controls to meet programme and budget requirements.
•Deliver high-quality ecological consultancy and advisory services through check and review processes.
•Develop technically robust and pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues.
•Communicate effectively with ecology team members, project colleagues and clients.
•Contribute to ecology sections of environmental statements and protected species licence applications.
•Author or technically check project deliverables to ensure high-quality outputs.

Key Requirements

•Demonstratable experience in planning and delivery of ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland
•Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation
•Membership of an appropriate professional institution and evidence of working towards Chartership (such as CIEEM or related)
•Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including any protected species licences
•A proactive approach to Health and Safety
•Mentoring and supporting ecology team members
